Let’s talk today
Kings Forest is one of the region’s fastest-growing development areas, with increasing demand for new housing and sustainable building outcomes. Accelerate supports this growth by providing detailed, compliant assessments that meet the requirements of the NSW Government’s BASIX scheme and the NatHERS star rating framework.
Our goal is to make the compliance process clear, stress-free and efficient, whether you’re a seasoned developer or a first-time builder who may be navigating these requirements for the first time.
A BASIX Certificate is a mandatory requirement for most residential developments in NSW, forming a core part of the Development Application or Complying Development process. The certificate confirms that the proposed dwelling meets the State’s minimum sustainability standards across three key areas:
Our assessors review your plans, model your home’s performance and provide clear recommendations to achieve BASIX compliance without unnecessary cost or complexity. We prepare your BASIX Certificate and ensure all documentation aligns with council and NSW planning requirements.
NatHERS assessments measure the thermal performance of a home based on a number of factors including orientation, building materials, glazing, insulation and climate zone. The assessment results in a star rating out of ten, which contributes to BASIX thermal comfort compliance.
We use accredited NatHERS software to accurately model homes in the Kings Forest climate zone (NCC climate zone 2), providing:
Our assessments are trusted by builders, designers and certifiers across Northern NSW for their clarity, detail and reliability.
Depending on the house design some projects may have a more cost effective compliance pathway through deem-to-satisfy (DTS) provisions rather than NatHERS. With our expertise, we’re able to determine if the project is better suited to this form of assessment and will advise our clients accordingly.
Kings Forest forms part of the Tweed Shire Council local government area. While council oversees development approvals, Accelerate is completely independent and not associated with local council. Many first-time builders assume assessors are connected to council, so we make this distinction clear.
Our assessments are designed to help your DA or CDC approval proceed smoothly, so that you can provide the local council with the correct documentation right from the start.
Choosing us means partnering with an experienced team that values professionalism, precision and clear communication.
We understand how important it is for builders and owner-builders in Kings Forest to receive reliable assessments that do not slow down the approval or construction process.
Every report we produce is tailored to the project’s design, the local climate and the specific requirements of Northern NSW developments, ensuring that the final documentation is both technically accurate and practical to implement
We understand the local climate, design trends and council expectations, and we work closely with you to achieve strong compliance outcomes.
Support Through Approval
Our support doesn’t end once your certificate is issued. If your certifier, designer or builder has questions during the DA or construction phase, we remain available to provide clarification, assessment revision services or assist with any approval-related queries to keep your project moving.

No. Accelerate is completely independent from Tweed Shire Council and all other councils. Our role is to prepare the required energy and sustainability assessments that must accompany your building application.
While council reviews these documents as part of the approval process, we work solely for you and your project. Many first-time builders assume these reports are issued by council, so we ensure this distinction is made clear from the start.
At minimum, we require architectural drawings including floor plans, elevations, sections and a window or glazing schedule.
If your builder or designer has prepared specifications for insulation, materials, roof colours, heating and cooling systems or hot water systems, providing these helps ensure the assessment accurately reflects your intentions.
If you are unsure about any details, we can advise you on the most common options and guide you through what is needed.
The typical turnaround time is between 2 and 5 business days for standard homes. More complex or larger dwellings may require additional time due to the increased modelling involved. If you are working to a tight deadline, we can often accommodate urgent requests. We prioritise efficient processing without compromising on the accuracy or thoroughness of the modelling, ensuring that your submission can proceed without unnecessary delay.
Most homes in NSW achieve BASIX thermal comfort using NatHERS, so both are typically required. Some minor projects may only require a BASIX Certificate, but we can advise after reviewing your plans.
Yes. If your project does not initially comply, we provide clear and practical advice outlining what is required to meet the standards. This may involve minor design adjustments or small specification upgrades. We focus on solutions that maintain your design goals while ensuring efficient compliance and avoiding unnecessary cost.
Northern NSW experiences warm, humid summers and mild winters, meaning cooling performance is often a key factor in achieving strong thermal results. Winter conditions can also be a factor and maybe needing more of a consideration for certain house designs.
Homes with western exposure, minimal shading or extensive glazing can experience higher cooling loads. Our modelling accounts for these conditions and helps identify strategic solutions, such as optimising shading, selecting effective glazing or improving ventilation, to improve the dwelling’s performance in the local climate zone.
